Senior Electrical Engineer Contractor (Outside IR35)

The Role:
As the range of projects that we work on grow, so does our team! We are currently looking to hire a Senior Electrical Engineer Contractor in our R&D department at our coastal office in Weymouth. Do you love working in a fun, forward-thinking environment?
You will:
1. Develop new designs, processes, or systems based on new or evolving technology.
2. Carry out complex and/or nonstandard technical analyses.
3. Review specifications and tenders to identify technical issues and potential improvements.
4. Carry out technical risk analysis and identify mitigation measures.
5. Develop solutions involving complex or multi-disciplinary technology.
6. Investigate a technical issue, identify potential solutions, and determine the factors needed to compare them.
7. Identify and carry out physical tests or trials and analyze and evaluate the results.
8. Carry out technical simulations or analysis.
9. Prepare, present, and agree on design recommendations, with appropriate analysis of risk, and taking account of cost, quality, safety, reliability, accessibility, appearance, fitness for purpose, intellectual property constraints and opportunities, and environmental impact.
10. Ensure that the application of the design results in the appropriate practical outcome.
11. Implement design solutions, taking account of critical constraints, including due concern for safety, sustainability, disposal or decommissioning, as well as scalability and maintainability.
12. Actively learn from feedback on results to improve future design solutions and build best practice.
13. Manage the balance between quality, cost, and time.
14. Monitor progress and associated costs and cost forecasts, taking appropriate actions when required.
15. Interface effectively with customers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
16. Prepare reports, drawings, specifications, and other documentation on complex matters.
17. Exchange information and provide advice to technical and non-technical colleagues.
18. Prepare bids, proposals, or studies.
19. Identify, agree, and lead work towards collective goals.
20. Clearly present and discuss proposals, justifications, and conclusions.
21. Lead, chair, contribute to, and record meetings and discussions.
22. Identify aspects of the Code which are particularly relevant.
23. Lead work within relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, including internal company processes and procedures.
24. Identify and take responsibility for your own obligations and ensure that others assume similar responsibility for health, safety, and welfare issues.
25. Develop and implement appropriate hazard identification and risk management systems and culture.
About You:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team!
You Will Have:
1. Master’s Degree in a technical discipline/equivalent level 7 qualification with mid-level experience.
2. OR Bachelor’s Degree Level 6 qualification with senior level experience.
3. OR Chartered Engineer with mid-level experience.
4. OR Incorporated Engineer with senior level experience.
5. OR comparable specialist knowledge with a senior level of professional experience.
6. High level understanding of the functional interdependencies of electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and mechatronic systems.
7. Proven experience in the definition, design, and assembly of electrical or electronic assemblies and costs.
8. Good knowledge of CAD tools such as ePlan and EDM systems such as Teamcenter PLM.
9. High level knowledge of drawing standards such as EN 61355-1, EN 81346, EN 61082 and associated standards.
10. Good knowledge of the product creation and change management processes.
11. Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
12. Proven knowledge in some or all of the following areas: Measurement, control, and regulation; sensors; actuators; wiring and safety; power; circuit design and simulation; PC architecture; EMC application & testing; ESD application & testing; Embedded firmware.
13. Knowledge of Motion Control systems and motor tuning (Desirable).
14. Experienced in the design of special purpose machinery (Desirable).
