Academic Mentor – Full-Time Position in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Academic Mentor to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. Starting in December, this full-time position will run through the end of the academic year, with potential for a permanent role based on performance. Weekly pay is between £419.25 and £500.
Role Overview:

As an Academic Mentor, you’ll work closely with students who may need additional support in core subjects, helping to improve their academic outcomes and overall confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Individual and Small Group Tutoring: Provide targeted one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions, focusing on subjects where students need additional support. Help students grasp complex concepts, improve study skills, and gain confidence in their abilities.
* Personalized Learning Plans: Develop tailored learning strategies in collaboration with teachers to address the specific needs of individual students, including those who may be at risk of falling behind.
* Progress Monitoring: Track and document students' progress, setting achievable goals and adapting teaching methods to ensure academic growth. Share progress updates with teachers and contribute to planning further interventions as needed.
* Exam and Assessment Support: Offer specialized support to help students prepare for exams and assessments. Provide effective revision techniques, and encourage good exam strategies and time management skills.
* Classroom Assistance: Work alongside teachers to support students within the classroom environment, reinforcing subject material and assisting in managing classroom focus.
* Mentorship and Motivation: Serve as a positive role model and mentor, motivating students to set academic goals and strive for personal bests. Create an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere where students feel supported in their learning journey.
* Resource Preparation: Assist in developing and organizing learning materials, such as revision handouts, practice questions, and summary guides, which will enhance students’ learning experiences.
* Parent and Guardian Engagement: When appropriate, provide feedback to parents or guardians on student progress and areas for improvement, working with them to reinforce learning outside the classroom.
* Safeguarding and Wellbeing: Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, always adhering to school safeguarding policies to ensure student welfare.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Academic Background: Holds a degree in a relevant field, with strong knowledge in core subjects such as English, Math, or Science.
* Passion for Education: Demonstrates a strong commitment to helping students achieve their academic potential and a genuine interest in educational support.
* Excellent Communication Skills: Able to explain subject material clearly and effectively, adapting explanations to suit a range of learning styles and abilities.
* Organized and Detail-Oriented: Skilled at tracking student progress, creating structured learning plans, and preparing educational materials.
* Patient and Encouraging: Displays patience and an encouraging approach to student challenges, helping them build resilience and confidence.
* Team Player: Works effectively with teachers and other staff, contributing positively to a collaborative educational environment.
* Committed to Safeguarding: Understands and upholds safeguarding responsibilities to ensure the wellbeing of all students.
