Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

Specialty Doctor Obstetrics & Gynaecology - 8PAs
Applications are invited for the appointment of a Specialty Doctor based at the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards on Sea to start as soon as possible for a fixed term period of one year. The post holder is also required to perform duties at Eastbourne DGH.
Main duties of the job
The Department of Women’s Health has an innovative multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with their nominated Consultant colleague. The team comprises of associate specialists, career grade specialty doctors, experienced trainee and nurse practitioner/higher level midwife. Midwifery care will also be linked within the team approach.
The post holders will need to show a commitment to training and be proactive in maximizing the training opportunities available within the clinical unit and be prepared to take part in Audit and Risk management.
Applicants should have the essential requirements of full GMC registration and experience at second on-call level. Desirable are the MRCOG and maintenance of a career portfolio.

Person specification
Qualifications & Registration
* MBBS or recognised equivalent medical qualification.
* MRCOG part 1
* Full registration with GMC with a license to practice
* Eligibility to work in UK
* ALS/ATLS within 2 years of application
* MRCOG part 2/3
Training & Experience
* Completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent experience and competencies
* Capacity to work effectively with others
* Recent experience of working within the UK NHS setting.
* Demonstrates ability to carry out clinical skills appropriate to job description
* Able to communicate in written and spoken English
* Ability to apply required clinical knowledge and judgement to situations and prioritise workload based on clinical need.
* Clinical training and experience of at least three years full time hospital based postgraduate training in O&G
* Competent to perform uncomplicated LSCS.
* Competent to perform uncomplicated ERCP
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems both emergency and elective within O&G.
* Demonstrates an interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
* Evidence of academic involvement
* Ability to work in a multi professional team
Clinical Governance
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles of clinical audit, clinical quality improvement initiatives and research including awareness of ethics
* Demonstration of completed audit projects.
Teaching
* Experience of undergraduate and post graduate teaching
