The role will be split doing time within the Training and Development Department for 3 days per week and 2 days with both Getting More Help teams carrying out duty work.
The educational side of the role will have protected time to design, deliver and evaluate training and education programmes in relation to suicide prevention for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health service. The post holder will also work alongside other clinical practice educators with a suicide prevention focus to review, implement and evaluate Trust-wide training and education. This will require a range of approaches to teaching and learning, from individual coaching to classroom based training and online learning. The post holder will have an induction programme within the Learning & Development team based on their personal experience and needs in relation to training and education. Peer supervision from an experienced team of clinical practice educators will be provided, along with support to further develop their skills in learning and teaching and to gain a teaching qualification if required.
The clinical work within this role, will be embedded within the CAMHS Getting More Help Duty provision. This will involve working alongside the Duty lead and GMH team who support duty on a rota basis. The purpose of the duty provision is to respond to parents and other professionals who are concerned around deterioration in mental state or an increase in risk.
Main duties of the job
·Take a primary role in the development of staff in clinical practice including undergraduate students on placement and both registered and non-registered health care professionals.
·Work clinically with members of the clinical team to facilitate development of clinical skills, theoretical knowledge and conceptual understanding of clinical practice.
·In partnership with senior clinical staff ensure that clinical staff and undergraduate students are exposed to and are taught evidence-based interventions to the required national standards.
·In partnership with senior clinicians identify potential areas of practice development & lead the implementation of suitable learning and development solutions.
·Facilitate learning in both formal and informal settings in order to support the ongoing development of staff in clinical practice.
·Design, deliver and evaluate training and development programmes on a range of topics.
