Role responsibilities
The Design Engineer will design and deliver a range of regional active travel infrastructure projects, working as part of a national multi-disciplinary team, to enhance active travel project delivery across urban and rural settings.
1. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, develop the concept, detailed designs and construction specifications for active travel infrastructure projects by following the appropriate design standards, legislation and guidance such as ATAG, DMRB, WelTAG, MCHW MfS and MfS2 to support in creating active travel projects that meet the Client’s requirements.
2. Working with communities and support groups by liaising with TfW’s Engagement team and others to collaboratively design projects that respond to local issues and opportunities.
3. Develop and deliver work using inclusive design principles, by seeking out and listening to seldom listened to and marginalised voices to create a fairer public realm in Wales.
4. Support the business case process through the different stages of the WelTAG by providing details of the technical options and supporting on the development of costs, risks and opportunities to allow the project to secure the appropriate funding.
Who we’re looking for
5. HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or associated discipline or demonstrate equivalent experience.
6. Experience of working within a technical design team on linear infrastructure projects; ideally on highways, active travel, or public realm projects. Experience in using design software such as AutoCAD, preferably Civils 3D.
7. Knowledge of Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations.
8. Commitment to active travel and the promotion of sustainable transport
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
