Job summary
The Emergency Department at Yeovil District Hospital are looking for motivated enthusiastic Band 6 staff to join their busy CYP (children and Young Persons) team. This is a friendly department with a positive team ethos and strong nursing leadership (part- time or full- time considered).
Applicants need to have a sound knowledge of clinical, leadership and managerial skills. ED clinical skills required.
Be able to provide, demonstrate and maintain a high standard of professional nursing care to our young patients.
Demonstrate the ability to lead as well as work within a team; to supervise, nurture, counsel and develop the knowledge and skills of staff.
Provide immediate assessment, and care of paediatric patients
Initiate and participate in developments with the Ward Manager/Matron to include all aspects of the Unit, Trust Policies and Procedures.

Main duties of the job
To demonstrate proactive and complex communication strategies to meet the needs of patients, relatives, and colleagues where there could be barriers to understanding.
Liaise with nursing and non-nursing colleagues and offer advice, guidance, motivation, and counsel as appropriate.
Anticipate patient's reaction and plans appropriate style in view of patient problems and lifestyle.
Assist the Department Manager to investigate any complaints, quality monitoring, risk assessment, staff performance and communicates information to relevant forums, Clinical Governance.
Use knowledge and underpinning skills to interpret measurements and act on observations in clinical situations in collaboration with nursing staff and medical staff with the urgency that the individual situation requires and follows through to a satisfactory conclusion.
Maintain proactive liaison links with other wards and departments throughout the hospital, negotiating when appropriate and providing training and reassurance to multi-professional team members to meet organisation and departmental goals.
Participate in senior leadership group, clinical governance, and any other Trust wide meetings.
