Urogynaecology trained Nurse - Weekend Sessions - North West
Outpatient Network is currently seeking Urogynaecology Trained Nurses with NHS experience to join our weekend Gynaecology services in the North West of England.
Main duties of the job
As a urogynaecology nurse in diagnostic clinics, your main duties involve assessing and managing patients with pelvic floor disorders such as incontinence and prolapse. You will perform detailed patient assessments, taking medical histories, and conducting specialized diagnostic tests like urodynamic studies, bladder scanning, and pelvic floor assessments. Based on these findings, you'll interpret results to help guide diagnosis and treatment decisions.
In addition to diagnostics, you will educate patients on managing their conditions through lifestyle changes, pelvic floor exercises, and bladder training. Developing individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you will also monitor patients' progress during follow-up appointments, adjusting treatment as necessary.
Your role also includes supporting patients through pre- and post-operative care, ensuring they understand their treatment options, and helping them through recovery. Maintaining accurate records and collaborating closely with urogynaecologists and physiotherapists are essential to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Role Overview:
The Urogynaecology Nurse is responsible for delivering specialized care within diagnostic clinics, supporting patients with pelvic floor disorders, such as urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. The nurse will play a key role in performing diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and developing individualized care plans. This role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Patient Assessment & Diagnostics: Conduct comprehensive assessments, including medical history review and symptom evaluation. Perform diagnostic procedures such as urodynamic studies, bladder scanning, and pelvic floor assessments.
* Interpretation of Results: Analyze and interpret diagnostic results to aid in the diagnosis and management of urogynaecological conditions, reporting findings to the multidisciplinary team.
* Patient Education & Counseling: Educate patients on their condition, treatment options, and self-management strategies, including bladder training, pelvic floor exercises, and lifestyle modifications.
* Care Planning & Implementation: Collaborate with consultants, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans, ensuring alignment with clinical guidelines.
* Pre- and Post-Operative Support: Provide guidance to patients preparing for and recovering from urogynaecological surgery, ensuring they understand their care plans and post-operative instructions.
* Follow-Up & Monitoring: Conduct follow-up assessments to monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes.
* Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Work: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including urogynaecologists, continence advisors, and physiotherapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
* Record-Keeping & Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring compliance with NHS policies and standards of care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
* Experience or training in urogynaecology or women's health.
* Competence in performing urodynamic studies and other relevant diagnostic procedures.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support patient education and collaboration with the healthcare team.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage a caseload effectively.
* Post-registration qualification in urogynaecology or a related field.
* Experience working in an NHS Tier 3 Urogynaecology Service.
