The role
As in-house Legal Counsel you will be an integral part of our legal team which is a growing function in the business. This position is wide ranging and will involve partnering with an extensive list of stakeholders of all levels of seniority across the firm.
As part of an ambitious and acquisitive organisation, you will be exposed to a range of responsibilities with genuine depth and variety.
This position will be a hybrid role which can be based in any of our offices across the UK. It will involve some travel (primarily in the UK) as required by the business therefore applicants must be able to commit to this.
Key accountabilities
* Advise stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters however you will be particularly focussed on the drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial contracts (including software agreements), dispute resolution, employment law and M&A
* Develop knowledge and understanding of the business to help identify any potential risks and work with the relevant parties to shape solutions that meet requirements
* Manage relevant projects within your remit and drive forward progress
* Positively contribute to the legal team, creating a professional, effective, high quality and approachable resource for the business
* Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures, including the use of technology, to improve efficiency and mitigate risk.
Skills & experience
* 2-10 year English qualified solicitor (or equivalent)
* Strong in-house or private practice experience is essential
* Expertise in one or more of the following areas would be preferable:
o commercial contracts (including software agreements)
o litigation (preferably professional negligence claims) and/or
o employment law (ideally contentious work)
* An interest in developing legal and compliance knowledge and skills to apply across the business
* A self-driven individual capable of working effectively independently and as part of a team
* Ability to take responsibility for a project and drive progress whilst keeping the relevant parties updated
* Strong prioritisation skills and able to work under pressure with competing deadlines.
