Job summary Band 3 Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor Job Purpose: To support the Occupational Therapist in delivering a high standard of Occupational Therapy intervention and assist in maintaining a daily service on the Healthcare of the Elderly wards at University Hospital Plymouth (UHP). To be responsible for the day-to-day preparation and tidying of designated therapy and office areas maintaining these in a professional manner. To order equipment for daily living under the instruction of the Occupational Therapist, inline with policies and procedures of the Integrated Community Equipment Services, for all three counties, within the authorised budgeting limit. To provide clerical/administrative support to Occupational Therapists and the wider department. To assist with standardised and non-standardised Occupational Therapy assessments under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist. To be part of the 7-day working rota, which includes weekends and bank holidays. Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification. Main duties of the job The Occupational Therapy Team consists of a variety of staff at Band 7, 6,5 & 3. Post holder may be required to deliver and fit equipment and carry out assessments at patient's home for the Occupational Therapist for any speciality within UHP. Post holder will not receive regular supervision but will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own work, within a broad framework laid down by the supervising Occupational Therapist. Post holder will be required to maintain verbal and non-verbal, written and electronic patient records, reports and activity data contemporaneously and reported back in appropriate forums, in accordance with professional and Trust record keeping standards under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. Post holder will demonstrate advanced skills in the use of all equipment, as well as manual handling techniques when assisting patients which will be required for the role.
