Class Teacher – Special Needs
Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience (plus SEN allowance).

We have a fantastic opportunity to work with children aged 4-19 with severe Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The pupils enjoy learning and would like an outstanding teacher to support them to achieve success both within the school and in their community. The school has state of the art facilities and the support of experienced and friendly teaching assistants who work as a class team.
Experience of special needs is desirable. This post if suitable for teachers who would like to develop special school experience in their career.
• Class Teachers (QTS status or educated to degree level and interested in gaining qualified teacher status (QTS) within 2 years or enrolled on a degree program with the intention to gain QTS within 2 years of finishing said degree)
• All Candidates must complete an application form and covering letter with details of any specialism and SEND interests.
• The school has an Induction programme and genuine ongoing commitment of staff professional development.

• A calm and rational manner when dealing with challenging situations.
• Experience working with children and young people who have additional needs
including behaviour that is a barrier to their education
• Patience and understanding for students with challenging behaviour
• Confident to deliver small group and 1-to-1 activities.
• A team player who engages well with others
• A strong communicator
• A genuine interest in supporting children and young people to reach their full potential
• Energetic and hard-working.
• Flexible and adaptable to change
