Overview We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive primary school team. In this role, you will work closely with children who face behavioural and emotional challenges, providing tailored support to help them succeed in their learning and personal development. With a salary ranging from £15,000 to £28,000, this position is perfect for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young learners. Duties Work 1:1 or with small groups of students to provide behaviour support and guidance during lessons and school activities. Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours, using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement. Build trusting relationships with students to foster confidence, self-regulation, and improved social skills. Assist the class teacher in creating a calm and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students feel supported. Monitor and record student progress, contributing to individual behaviour plans and reviews. Support students with emotional wellbeing by offering a listening ear, providing encouragement, and promoting resilience. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to behaviour management.Skills Experience working with children who display challenging behaviours, ideally in a school setting. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and colleagues. Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, such as de-escalation strategies and restorative practices. Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with children who require additional support. An understanding of the impact of emotional and social challenges on learning. Ability to adapt and personalise approaches to meet the unique needs of individual students.Examples of Support Helping a student transition calmly into the classroom by using structured routines and visual aids.
