Imagine a role where your psychological expertise directly helps people navigate one of the hardest experiences of their lives. As a Psychologist in our cancer support program, you'll be the person patients and their families turn to for understanding, support, and hope. This role is about more than providing therapy—it's about helping people feel seen, heard, and empowered through their journey with cancer.
You’ll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, including other compassionate professionals, to offer a range of support services tailored to the unique needs of those impacted by cancer. This collaborative environment is designed to ensure that everyone, from the patient to their loved ones, receives holistic care. You’ll provide individual, couples, and family sessions, as well as lead group therapies and workshops that allow people to connect, share, and find strength in community.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Providing Individualised Care: You’ll conduct one-on-one assessments and offer personalised therapy to patients, helping them work through the emotions, fears, and challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, or uncertainty about the future, your role will be to guide them through their personal journey with empathy and expertise.
* Leading Group and Family Sessions: Beyond individual therapy, you’ll facilitate group support and family sessions, where patients and loved ones can openly share experiences. These group settings foster a sense of community, reminding people they are not alone and providing strength through shared stories.
* Collaborating with a Professional Team: Working alongside a team of dedicated specialists, you’ll contribute your expertise in an environment that values collaboration and integrated care. Together, you'll develop a well-rounded program to meet both the emotional and practical needs of each patient and their family.
* Innovating and Growing the Program: You'll play a key role in shaping the future of our cancer support program. This includes participating in research projects, sharing your knowledge with the team, and proposing new initiatives to improve our services. You’ll have the freedom to explore creative ways of offering support, always with the goal of making the most meaningful impact possible.
Why This Role Matters: Every day, you'll see firsthand the impact of your work on people’s lives. The relief on a patient’s face after a hard session, the gratitude of a family who feels more resilient, and the connections forged in group sessions—all of these moments reinforce the power of this work. This is a role for someone who truly wants to make a difference, someone who finds purpose in supporting people through their most challenging times.
If You’re A Good Fit: We’re looking for an HCPC-registered Psychologist (or someone eligible) with experience working with health-related psychological issues, ideally in cancer or chronic illness. You should feel confident leading sessions, facilitating groups, and working within a multi-disciplinary team. If you’re newly qualified, we still encourage you to apply; we value a genuine passion for this work as much as experience.
Join us to help create a supportive, welcoming environment where each person’s emotional wellbeing is cared for as much as their physical health. In this role, you’ll have the chance to truly make a difference, day after day, for those facing cancer. Apply today or contact chris@takeaseat.co.uk to find out more
