Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business makes sure we fulfill and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time. As an Area Manager, you’ll ensure your site is running smoothly to meet customer demand. You will be leading a team that helps keep our operations safe, efficient, and of high quality while taking on a number of projects across our network to drive productivity.
Key job responsibilities
1. Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing.
2. Analyze and implement changes to maintain quality and productivity at a consistently high level.
3. Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimize productivity, and increase quality of service for customers within your area of responsibility.
4. Analyze shift performance against relevant business objectives and implement actions to improve operational excellence.
5. Work collaboratively with management-level colleagues to standardize shift practices.
German language skills (C1-level at least) are mandatory!
A day in the life
You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring maximum productivity. Your main focus will be to own and drive a culture of safety and uphold quality and shift performance standards. You’ll oversee process improvements within your area and drive implementation. A typical day is varied, including routine team management, daily operational responsibilities, process improvement, and wide-scale operational contingency tasks. You’ll also serve as a role model and mentor to new managers.

Amazon couldn’t deliver at pace without the Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team. As part of ATS, you’ll join a diverse team that plays a central role in our success. Using air, sea, and road transport, as well as sortation centers equipped with the latest technology, you’ll help Amazon’s transport run at maximum efficiency. Our team captures data and uses it to drive decisions, making Amazon more innovative and efficient. We prioritize safety as our people are our priority, leveraging their expertise to ensure packages reach their destinations quickly, conveniently, and sustainably.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A degree
Relevant experience in people management
Relevant experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
Relevant experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions
Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and local language.

Experience working with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques
Experience in another logistics environment
