Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Consultant Working as a GIS Consultant in the Data and Insights team, you will participate in Civil, Municipal, and Environmental Engineering projects on activities pertaining to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Data Management. You will work closely with and in support of project managers, spatial scientists, professional engineers, planners, geologists, environmental scientists, and skilled technicians/technologists to coordinate and implement a wide variety of project solutions and goals. GIS Responsibilities Preparation and delivery of GIS figures and maps Creating, publishing, and maintaining web-based applications and feature services on ArcGIS Enterprise Sourcing, converting and evaluating geospatial data sets from a variety of sources in a variety of spatial formats. Setting up Field Map and Survey123 applications for team member site visits. Champion GIS Solutions for the local office for both data collection and delivery. Provide technical support requests regarding spatial software solutions for internal and external clients. Other Technical Project Delivery Providing technical project delivery by designing solutions, conducting analysis, and writing code using Agile principles. Using data and operational management techniques to improve operational performance. Acting as Project Manager on appropriate projects. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Pro-actively engaging with stakeholders to gather information, determine root causes of issues, and develop strong relationships. Clear and concise presentation of results and concepts through a variety of mediums, tailoring the level of technical content to the audience. Previous Experience Due to the diversity of our projects, a range of skills and experience is beneficial to this role. While a balance of technical and management capabilities is essential, we place a particular emphasis on strong GIS expertise. An ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate proven experience in any combination of the following skills, with a priority on the technical areas listed below: GIS Capabilities Proficiency with Esri GIS desktop software ArcGIS Pro 3.0.2. Experience with ArcGIS Online and/or Portal environment. Experience in data conversion, database management, and GIS digitisation and analysis. Experience in AutoCAD. An understanding of the definition, projection, and application of different coordinate systems for both vector and raster datasets in ArcGIS. Capability to produce high quality cartographic products. A suitable degree or higher (or studying towards) in Geographical Information Systems with 2-5 years relevant experience. Desirable Technical Capabilities Scripting and analysis using Python and SQL. Dashboarding using Tableau and/or Power BI Solid knowledge of statistical methods and concepts. Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities. Management Capabilities Experience in Business Analytics, using data and statistical analysis to derive insights and make informed decisions. Experience in Agile training and effective implementation of Agile principles. Clear and detailed client communication, including presentation and storytelling of technical concepts.
