The Russell Education Trust (RET) is seeking an exceptional Mathematics Adviser/Consultant to play a pivotal role in raising standards, developing best practice, and supporting mathematics teaching across our highly successful schools.
This is a unique opportunity for an outstanding mathematics specialist with leadership experience to work collaboratively across a thriving family of schools. You will support Heads of Mathematics and teaching teams, ensuring that our well-established, high-quality curriculum continues to evolve and deliver outstanding outcomes for students.
All of our schools have been judged by Ofsted as good or outstanding. Our progress figures are consistently above average (P8 from 0.4 to 0.8). All of our schools have established 6th forms, with most achieving 77% or more A*-C at A Level mathematics and three schools achieving 100% A*-C at A Level further mathematics.
The leadership of mathematics in the schools is strong and effective. The Heads of Mathematics welcome our regular visits. We have a co-constructed curriculum that all departments follow and contribute to, with agreed consistent methods and high-quality resources. The successful candidate will maintain and build on established practice whilst supporting schools to evolve and develop further.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mathematics Adviser to join our team and working with our Lead Mathematics Adviser across multiple schools within the Russell Education Trust. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior or middle leadership roles and a proven track record of raising achievement within their department and school.
As a Mathematics Adviser, you will be part of an established team of specialists dedicated to enhancing educational standards and driving continuous improvement across all our schools from Years 7 to 13 as well as linking with colleagues in primary provision. Key Responsibilities:
* Coaching and Mentoring: Provide guidance and support to teachers, fostering professional growth and development.
* Resource Development: Assist schools in creating and utilising high-quality teaching resources that are shared across the trust.
* Quality Assurance: Monitor and support Heads of Departments (HODs) to ensure high-quality classroom practices within their teams.
* Professional Development: Share best practices and deliver training sessions to enhance teaching pedagogy.
* Collaborative Planning, Marking and Feedback: Engage in collaborative planning and support centralised key processes for marking and feedback.
* Curriculum Development: Lead curriculum development within a common scheme of work and shared assessments.
* Data Analysis: Analyse data to track student attainment, identify gaps or areas of slower progress, and support Senior Leadership Teams and HODs in anticipating potential risks to outcomes.
* Recruitment and Workload Management: Assist in recruitment and support teacher workload to ensure a balanced and effective teaching environment.
* National Initiatives: Update and advise departments on national educational initiatives and policies.
* Improvement Strategies: Develop and lead strategies aimed at continuous improvement and raising educational standards.
Qualifications & Experience
We are seeking a teacher with exceptional subject knowledge and a genuine passion for mathematics. Our adviser roles are ideal for individuals with management and prior Head of Mathematics experience.
This role involves significant responsibilities across the trust, working in five secondary schools located in Barnet, Richmond, Brentwood, Bristol, and Brighton. Central meetings will be held at our head office in Teddington, with opportunities for remote working.
The successful applicant will be resilient, creative and an expert practitioner. They must hold QTS (or equivalent) and a good honours degree in mathematics or mathematics related subject.
