Job Role: Technical Specification Manager
Location: Leeds (LS9)
Hours: Monday – Friday – 08:00 – 17:00 (1 hour lunch)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Bonus (negotiated on experience)
Contract Type: Full time and permanent

Our client is a leading manufacturer of stainless steel components for the construction industry. Trusted and respected, they advise, design and manufacture industry approved products which comply with Euro-code, NHBC and BBA requirements.
A new and exciting opportunity for a Technical Specification Manager has become available within their prestigious Specification Department. Specification Managers are renowned for their technical knowledge, customer service and excellent consultative approach to target delivery. You will be liaising with mainly Architects, Engineers, Estimators and Design Managers, with a view of introducing products at the beginning phase of the project design process.
A full training period will be given to the successful individual, you will receive information on products, customers, target market, systems and internal contacts to enable you to make a success of the job role, full support will be in place.
What the role involves:
To be the single technical point of contact for the customers design team from the start of stage 3 through to receipt of DCO/PO. Pro-actively lead customer engagement throughout stage 3 to ensure a full basket of the companies products are specified. Support the BDM during stage 4 to the point of DCO/PO through ongoing proactive technical engagement and quality control.
* From projects identified by Stage 3 Co-Ordinator and your own contacts/leads, pro-actively engage with customers technical team.
* Sell the companies offering and support the customer in the technical development of their design, typically stage 3 (sections, VE activities, teams calls, arrange CPD’s etc)
* Track projects through planning stage and hand over project (from a sales perspective) to relevant BDM (Specified projects, competitor specified projects and open specs) to work main contractor
* Remain technical point of contact with customer throughout until PO / DCO.
* Work closely with BDM to support technical strategy, quality check all DR outputs from technical team prior to submission to customer.
* Work with BDM to develop accurate proposals and effectively communicate assumptions/exclusions to ensure price accuracy is clearly understood.
* Develop strong technical relationships with customer technical teams
Key Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Experience required – essential and desirable)
* Ability to lead technical meetings with customers design team to generate structurally acceptable solutions
* Be able to use CAD to professionally convey design intent/options following design meetings
* Strong communication skills (Teams, Telephone, face-to-face)
* Ability to develop relationships with customer technical team
* Be able to multi task and manage time effectively to ensure multiple projects are tracked and pro-actively progressed as required.
