We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new Options Autism schools in County Durham, designed to provide exceptional education and support for pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism.
Trimdon Hill School, located in Durham, will cater to 40 pupils aged 4 to 11 years and is set to open in June 2025. We are currently recruiting a dedicated SEN Teacher to join the team and help shape the future of this school, with a start date in September 2025.
* Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum, depending on experience (not pro rata)
* Location: Durham, North East, TS29 6EY
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday
* Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

* QTS
* Not suitable for ECT/NQT
Through your knowledge and passion, you will have a real impact on the lives of pupils and young people. As an SEN Teacher, you will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupil’s achievement and ability to develop.
About the role
* To secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher;
* To teach a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s primary and secondary curriculums. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area;
* In consultation with the Headteacher undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s curriculum;
* To share the school’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.
General Responsibilities
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people;
* Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies.
* Take on specific tasks related to the day to day administration and organisation of the school;
* Take responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually then negotiated and agreed within the performance management cycle and school improvement process;
* Take on any additional responsibilities, which might from time to time be determined.
