In this role you will support the Senior Competition Law & Regulatory Counsels to manage competition law processes and to maintain the operational effectiveness of the competition law compliance programme. You will also support with Controlled Land Order compliance and learn to provide commercially astute advice on competition law issues. Working with business colleagues to complete third party merger questionnaires at Phase I and Phase II (EU and UK) Working with Property Acquisition and Location Planning colleagues to assess the competition law risks involved in the purchase of grocery store sites in the UK Maintaining key competition law compliance programme documents such as risk register, RACI, policy and guidance documents Updating training materials for e-learning, micro-learning and face to face training in relation to competition law and the Controlled Land Order ("CLO") Maintaining dawn raid materials and training relevant teams Maintaining the competition law inbox, compiling pushback data for Committees and raising any serious issues with my line manager Supporting the preparation of materials for UKLT and GRCC competition law Supporting and undertaking competition law assurance activities Managing CLO requests from the Competition & Markets Authority and collaborating with Location Planning to acquire the necessary information to assess compliance Providing ad hoc competition law advice appropriate to level of skill and experience Supporting the Competition Law & Regulatory Team and the Regulatory, Ethics & Compliance Director with other required competition law, and CLO matters Strong experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide-range of UK and EU competition law matters, with a pragmatic and commercial approach. Ability to identify and navigate complex legal issues with excellent knowledge of competition law. To be a self-starter and able to work independently but also thrive on working as part of a wider team, in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Strong partnering skills as the role requires an ability to build credibility with very experienced internal and external colleagues. A calm demeanour and an ability to work collaboratively under pressure. In-house experience preferred but not essential.
