Contek Recruitment are currently working with a precision engineering client, located in Basildon, Essex. They are in a period of growth and investment at the moment, and are now looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Our client, established in 1962, is a AS9100 and BS EN ISO9001 certified supplier for precision machined components. They are a quality-focused, aerospace-approved precision engineering specialist that offers a “single stop” supply source to the Aerospace, Defence, Marine, Automotive, Oil & Gas, Space, and Telecommunication sectors.
Purpose:
To act as the quality shopfloor development engineer for the company, ensuring a robust repeatable engineering method/process is followed and be responsible for process quality inspection checks. To develop process driven operator inspection checks that improve throughput and reduce internal quality issues.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday (08:00 AM until 15:00 PM)
Salary:
£18-£22 per hour (Dependent on experience)
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support shopfloor quality process dimensional measurements.
2. Learn and train in current manufacturing methods and processes to help gain understanding of products and help support future development.
3. Be responsible for developing process driven operator inspection checks.
4. Work with the manufacturing team to ensure robust repeatable and lean manufacturing methods are followed.
5. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
Reporting and Control:
1. Support the manufacturing team with their recording & analysis of production data.
2. Control of measurement equipment by following operating instructions and calibration requirements.
3. Coordinate with management and maintain knowledge of products and their process.
4. KPI metric reporting to control inspection bottlenecks and throughput.
5. KPI metric reporting for internal non-conformance and scrap analysis.
6. Rework analysis and reporting.
People and Leadership:
1. Develop and maintain positive relations and effectual communication lines with all the team, suppliers, and customers.
2. Drive and develop a “whole team approach” where everyone is responsible for the quality of work delivered to the next operation and final customer deliveries.
Continuous Improvement:
1. Responsible for challenging current working processes based on information from KPI and metrics and be able to present a case for change to management and lead the change process.
2. Seek opportunities to update job knowledge where possible.
Requirements:
1. Good personal and interpersonal skills, share innovation and process driven techniques with the team. Ability to achieve a team vision that inspires and develops operator inspection checks.
2. An engineering or manufacturing based qualification.
3. A CMM Programming course qualification would be ideal.
4. Able to use a wide range of metrology equipment.
5. An understanding of all inspection processes including manual and automatic measurement techniques.
6. Experience in Standard operating procedures & creation.
7. Reading & understanding technical drawings.
8. Review of NC’s and identifying root cause.
