Operations Manager - Cement / Readymix
An opportunity for an Operations Manager to lead an exciting start-up business in the ready-mix/building materials sector has arisen. The position is in Teesside and will involve travel in the region.
The start-up is well-backed and profitable. They have a strong client base and real opportunities to develop and grow this.
They are looking for somebody to take ownership of the project and drive the business forwards - the role will involve a combination of sales, account management, and logistics activities. Responsibilities will include:
1. Sales - new business development and account management
2. Supply chain - logistics, distribution and stock management
3. Customer service - following up on orders etc.
4. Business processes - establish business processes
5. Reporting - provide reports on key data points to the board (i.e. inventory at the beginning of the week vs end of the week, sales, breakdown of sales by clients, average sales prices etc.)
6. Finance and accounting - follow up with the finance team and ensure that accounting resources are effectively managed (invoicing completed on time, P&L and balance sheets produced etc.)
Personal requirements:
1. Previous experience in the building materials industry is necessary; experience within the cement/ready-mix/aggregates industry is preferred.
2. Experience overseeing logistics and distribution activities
3. Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and building client relationships
4. Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a start-up environment
5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
6. Strong attention to detail
