Head of Alumni and Supporter Engagement University Grade 8 £48,235 p.a. rising to £62,407 p.a. depending on experience (inclusive of Oxford Weighting) This new role will lead on the development and delivery of an engagement strategy for alumni and supporters as part of an expanded team. The successful candidate will support the fundraising ambitions of the college, by expanding its networks and engaging alumni, supporters and friends. Head of Alumni and Supporter Engagement candidate information pack (pdf) Key Responsibilities Strategy and leadership: Lead, develop and manage the college’s alumni and supporter engagement strategy, and associated budgets, in order to maximise engagement and develop mutually beneficial relationships that support college-wide objectives Work closely with the Director of Development to identify and lead on new strategies, programming, and activities Promote and champion supporter engagement across the college community As a member of the development leadership team provide guidance and support to team members as necessary As a member of the college’s Senior Management Group work collaboratively across the wider college in support of the college’s strategic aims Alumni engagement: Lead on the development and delivery of a comprehensive alumni engagement programme, to include: An extensive programme of college-based, local, national and international events, with support from the Development Coordinator The successful delivery of an extensive multi-channel alumni and supporter engagement communications programme, including the management and review of all content, with support from the Communications Officer (Development) An alumni volunteering programme, providing support for college activities, current students, fellow alumni and the local community, and working with the Head of Development Operations to develop a process by which volunteering and broader non-financial support can be recorded on the college’s CRM database (DARS) Lead on the development of a global alumni network via geographical alumni groups in key countries and cities, working with local volunteer committees to deliver both professional and social events A portfolio of benefits that engage alumni Manage a personal portfolio of key and prominent college alumni and supporters Work closely with the academic team, wider college community and student representatives to engage and educate students about the benefits of lifelong alumni connection, embed a sense of community and foster a culture of giving back Work closely with the Head of Development to ensure that engagement activities support opportunities for the identification and cultivation of fundraising prospects, encouraging a culture of giving and strong alumni participation rates Work closely with the Head of Development Operations to ensure that a current and accurate record of all alumni and supporter activity (for which the postholder is responsible) is maintained on the college’s CRM database (DARS), and in the establishment of metrics to measure success and impact, reporting these to college committees as required Supporter engagement: Lead on the development and delivery of a wider supporter engagement programme to increase the college network of supporters and friends Lead on the development and delivery of an innovative and engaging college regular giving programme, delivering year-on-year growth in donor numbers and the value of donations, and a stewardship programme to include opportunities for recognition, student-donor interactions, generation of impact reports and regular bespoke communication Lead on the development and management of a Friends of Green Templeton College supporter group, including the provision of appropriate events and communications Work with the Director of Development and Head of Development in the stewardship and relationship management of key donors and supporters to the college General: Deputise for the Director of Development in relation to all alumni and supporter engagement matters as required Manage the direction and day-to-day work of team members, providing support and development as required Produce management reports as required for the Principal, Director of evelopment, Development Committee and other college officers and/or committees Liaise and collaborate with the central university, divisional and departmental teams as required Work out of regular hours for which TOIL will be available and to undertake travel as required Be an active participant in relevant networks, within the university and externally, to keep abreast of good practice in alumni and supporter engagement Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post that may reasonably be requested by the Director of Development Line Specification Essential Experience and Knowledge: Excellent level of education (to degree level or equivalent professional experience) Proven experience of working in a supporter/alumni/membership/volunteer engagement role Proven experience of developing, delivering and evaluating compelling engagement strategies, for supporters/alumni/membership audiences that drive up interest, loyalty and commitment Proven experience of working in a fundraising environment or organisation, ideally with experience of regular giving programmes Proven ability to lead and manage others Skills and Abilities: Ability to think both strategically and tactically Excellent communication skills, both written and oral Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure Confident interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and negotiating skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels, both internally and externally Proven ability to robustly
