Full-time/Part-time Registered Veterinary Nurse
Highland Health Veterinary Care is a newly opened, independently owned practice in Beauly, near Inverness. Consisting of 2 vets, 2 nurses, 3 receptionists and a VCA, our small team provides exceptional care to all our patients.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Nurse to join our team. As a Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients and support to our veterinary team. Your expertise in veterinary practices and laboratory procedures will ensure that our animals receive the best possible treatment in a safe and nurturing environment. We offer 29 days annual leave (pro-rata), including bank holidays, but with the rolling rota this could equate to a lot more. RCVS and VDS memberships are paid for and there is a company pension scheme too.
Responsibilities
* Working with our other nurses on a rolling rota, including on-call and weekends, 1:3 with plenty of time off.
* All aspects of your nursing skills will be utilized with schedule 3 procedures encouraged (training available as required).
* Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
* Monitor the health and behaviour of animals pre- and post-surgery.
* Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
* Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
* Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
* Provide guidance to pet owners on animal care and health management.
* Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the clinic, including sterilisation of instruments and equipment.
* Support the training of junior staff or trainees as needed.
Experience
* Previous experience as a Veterinary Nurse, minimum of 1 year's post qualification is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of veterinary laboratory procedures is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with both team members and pet owners.
* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing exceptional care.
Successful Candidate:
* RVN registration (required).
* Veterinary experience: 1 year (required).
* Have a strong team spirit with a friendly customer focus.
* Honest, hardworking with a can-do attitude.
