Advanced Pharmacist for Critical Care and General Surgery
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
This will be a great opportunity for an experienced Pharmacist to develop the Clinical Pharmacy service, working closely with very enthusiastic speciality teams.
This post is available as a band 8a or 7 to 8a progression depending on your experience. As a pharmacy team, we work closely with the critical care multidisciplinary team including attending daily consultant-led ward rounds.
Critical care experience would be desirable but training can be provided in this speciality, and you would be supported by other Advanced Pharmacists working in critical care.
There would be the opportunity to complete UKCPA critical care courses and NHS England courses to upskill the critical care workforce. This year we have pharmacists completing both the foundation course and PG Cert in Advanced Pharmacy Practice (Critical Care). Being an NMP would be essential, and if needed, enrolment on the course will be fully supported by the department.
If you are already a prescriber, this will be a great opportunity to put your prescribing into practice.
The role will work closely with the Lead Surgical Services Pharmacist, other surgical leads, and the critical care team. We have ePMA on the wards including surgery, and we are about to implement a critical care specific ePMA system on all our critical care units.
There will also be the opportunity to undertake research projects relating to surgery and critical care, to help further increase the evidence base and improve patient care.
