Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
* Assist in understanding students' learning needs and use this knowledge to support their independence in the classroom
* Participate in classroom preparation as required
* Provide effective learning strategies to develop literacy and numeracy skills
* Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students
* Assist in monitoring students' responses to learning activities and progress towards targets, recording achievements, and providing feedback to teachers as needed
* Support the teacher in managing student behaviour, reporting as necessary
* Assist with student record-keeping as directed by the teacher
* Accompany teaching staff and students on visits and trips as appropriate
* Participate in training and other learning activities as required
* Support students with special needs, being flexible to accommodate their specific needs as outlined in their profile and EHC plan
* Promote development and learning (physical, emotional, educational, social)
* Act in accordance with Federation policies and procedures and relevant legislation, particularly regarding child protection and behaviour management

Your training plan
The successful candidate will work towards:
* Achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Teaching Assistant Level 3
* A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course
* This is a predominantly work-based programme with college attendance required once a month
* All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours
