Join us and contribute to making a positive impact on our community. The Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safer Communities Operations Lead to join our Safer Communities Service. The North Somerset Safer Communities Service aims to build safer and stronger communities through a combination of education, support, prevention, and enforcement. Their service covers a wide range of areas, including: Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) CCTV Control Room Community Safety and Crime Prevention Domestic Abuse Environmental Crime Hate Crime Modern Slavery Prevent (Counter Terrorism) Violence Reduction and Early Interventions The service works to reduce crime and the fear of crime by addressing risks, threats, and harm to victims and local communities. They also focus on strengthening the role of communities in delivering local initiatives In this role, you will have a lead role around ensuring that Safer Communities Operations are being delivered safely and effectively whilst identifying opportunities for business improvement and expansion. Key Responsibilities: Operational Review: Evaluate Safer Communities operations, including out-of-hours response, to identify business improvement opportunities through data analysis, horizon scanning, and benchmarking. Revenue Expansion: Develop strategies to expand operations and secure additional revenue streams. CCTV Control Room Management: Ensure the continuous operation of the 24/7 CCTV Control Room, covering public surveillance, policing support, out-of-hours call handling, and emergency response. Procurement and Compliance: Assist with procurement processes and develop KPIs/SLAs for contracts. Analyse contractor performance to ensure compliance, including Public Space Protection Order enforcement contracts. Vehicle Management: Oversee the management of Safer Communities vehicles, including 3 vans, 1 car, and 1 mini-bus. Partnership Coordination: Coordinate partnership operations, including bi-weekly multi-agency community engagement events. Enforcement Officer Compliance: Oversee compliance for enforcement officers, including body camera management, risk assessments, police vetting, and enforcement powers. Data Compliance and Case Management: Ensure data compliance and effective case management systems for ASB, Start to Finish, and the Violence Reduction Partnership. Training: Identify providers of up-to-date training for frontline staff to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Community Safety Accreditation Scheme: Lead the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme, acting as the liaison with the police for training, vetting, and ongoing use of CSAS. This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service check. Please note that this position requires full NPPV-level 2 police vetting Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Safer Communities Operations Lead to join our team and lead our efforts in ensuring public safety and operational excellence and who possesses the following skills and experience: Essential Criteria: Vocational qualifications to level 4 or above, or equivalent work experience relevant to the service areas. Extensive practical experience of working within the service area, giving rise to a variety of technical skills and sound understanding of the operations, legal responsibilities, work practices and processes relevant to the role. Experience of developing and delivering multi-agency practical solutions to a range of community safety issues. Ability to analyse data and use it to make decisions about service improvement Ability to analyse designated areas of work and make decision to improve them. Ability to identify emerging issues and suggest creative solutions to problems Ability to prepare & present information clearly and confidently with good communication skills, with the ability to present to a diverse range of internal and external audiences using a variety of media and approaches. Ability to manage/organise own work to be able to prioritise and manage a wide range of tasks and achieve results, sometimes within tight deadlines. Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Demonstrable experience in a project related environment, commensurate with the role, including experience of working in a Safer Communities related team delivering projects and working with criminal justice agencies and funding bodies. Ability to build working relationships with officers at all levels, members, external bodies, funding agencies, voluntary groups and other public services.
