Your Role as an Administrator
As an Administrator at HMP Northumberland, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the prison’s administrative function. You will provide general administration support across a variety of areas, handling tasks such as managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, maintaining records, and assisting with the preparation of management information. You will ensure that all administrative duties are completed in a timely and accurate manner, in line with audit requirements and legal standards.
You will be responsible for always maintaining confidentiality and ensuring that all records and documents are up-to-date and stored securely. In this role, you will liaise with colleagues, employees, and members of the public in a professional and friendly manner. Working closely with other departments, you will help create an efficient working environment and support the effective running of the prison.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
* Experience working in a similar administrative role or environment
* Ability to operate relevant IT applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
* Experience working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable:
* Previous experience in the public or prison services sector
* Knowledge of Sodexo policies and procedures
* Experience in producing management reports and analysis
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
