Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking torecruit a Consultant in Anaesthetics. The Directorate providesservices across 3 hospital sites within the county of Worcestershire. Thecandidate will benefit from working within a friendly and experienced team, renowned for providing a highly supportive working environment both for consultant colleagues and for trainees.
As a Trust we are actively involved in developing thetraining program for students from the Three Counties Medical School based inWorcester which opens in September 2023. We look forward to establishing linkswith the new Medical School in addition to well-established relationships withthe University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick.
Currently 8 Specialty Doctors/SAS, 40+ Anaesthetists in Training from Birmingham and Warwickshire Schools of Anaesthesia, Dual CCT Intensivists in Training, 5-10 Clinical Fellows.

Main duties of the job
The post will encompass a variety of anaesthetic subspecialties, with on-call commitments at both Worcestershire Royal Hospital and The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. On call work will cover emergency theatres at the Alexandra Hospital and emergency theatres and obstetrics at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
On-call frequency 1:14, Category A, availability supplement.

Job responsibilities
This job description, together with the job plan, will be reviewed annually and agreed with the Clinical Director and Divisional Director, on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer, to ensure that it continually reflects the areas of work, clinical responsibility of the post and purchaser requirements.
5. A suitably experienced post-holder will be expected to provide a clinical service in the relevant specialty to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and to General Practitioners.
6. The post-holder will be expected to provide a service to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, General Practitioners and to attend multi-disciplinary meetings. The successful candidate will be expected to work within multi-disciplinary teams in providing high quality clinical care. It is anticipated work will be undertaken on three sites and closer to the patients home. The Trust is seeking to extend services to GP surgeries/health centres etc and job plans may be revised in due course.
7. The post-holder will provide support to the A&E department and acute medicine to ensure timely appropriate care and patient flow through the hospital.
8. The post-holder will provide consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in the Trust and Primary Care.
