We are seeking an exceptional Director of Engineering to join the Claridge’s team.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
As the Director of Engineering you will be responsible for:
4. Protect the Company’s interests in the building, plant and equipment, ensuring the safety of guests, visitors and colleagues
5. Establish and implement a room maintenance programme in accordance with Claridge’s standards and budgetary expectations
6. Supervise and manage the performance of all Claridge’s contracts to ensure effective and efficient service level agreements are in place and achieved. Oversee and monitor the management of all contractors on site and ensure all Health and Safety, legislative requirements and Claridge’s standards are adhered to and audited regularly to ensure compliance
7. Ensure proactive and effective follow up across departments on a regular basis on all engineering matters and works outstanding, planned or anticipated
8. Work closely with all Hotel departments and in particular Housekeeping, Guest Relations and Front Office to ensure cohesion with the engineering function and in enhancing delivery towards the guest experience and satisfaction of guest needs
9. Observe the energy efficiency of all equipment, creating actions or initiatives for improvement or replacement of energy inefficient equipment
10. Be fully aware and take ownership of the Chief Engineer responsibility and practices with respect to Health and Safety as described in the Maybourne Health and Safety document. Create actions and follow up as required
11. Be aware of and comply with safe working practices as specified in the Health and Safety Act 1974 as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your work place
12. Generally being alert for opportunities to improve the profitability of the department i.e. through controlling wastage and being responsible for the economy of all utilities and resources and up-selling or link sales.
13. Provide effective leadership throughout the department, developing a robust structure and strong team culture and ethos which supports high levels of guest service delivery, effective communication and knowledge sharing.
14. Hold regular meetings with direct reports and conduct formal performance appraisals at least on an annual basis, agreeing appropriate outcomes and performance objectives. Ensure annual appraisals, regular job chats and employee communications are effectively undertaken within departments
15. Ensure you are aware of your Health and Safety responsibilities as required by the Hotels’ Health and Safety Policy, and monitor compliance with procedural requirements
16. Be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety Act as applicable to your place of work, including awareness of any specific hazards at your work place
