Support is offered through formal documents, forums, and informal discussions, such as site visits or phone consultations to resolve specific issues. The team also leads strategic and tactical initiatives like developing new design ranges, enhancing groundworks, and delivering training programs. Additionally, the team fosters collaboration and innovation through events such as design competitions and conferences.
Job Summary:
The role of Trainee Civil Engineer is pivotal to the success of every project and community our client develops. This role is responsible for establishing the infrastructure that connects new developments, enabling communities to thrive. Civil Engineers play a crucial part in ensuring homes meet and exceed customer expectations. You will provide technical support across all development stages, from initial site assessment to creating full design packages, obtaining technical consents, and offering guidance to teams and contractors during construction.
This is a unique opportunity to gain qualifications and experience through a structured Management Trainee Program. It’s ideal for candidates with degrees in architecture, engineering, or construction disciplines looking to enhance their expertise. To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Responsibilities:
During the program, you’ll gain experience in:
1. Site Foundations
o Assist in commissioning and interpreting site investigation reports.
o Spend time on land surveying to understand site levels.
o Procure foundation recommendations and learn about various foundation types.
o Understand and analyse topographical surveys.
2. Road & Sewer Principles
o Work with civil engineering consultants on live designs.
o Develop proficiency in AutoCAD.
o Gain knowledge of control chamber design, SuDS, private drainage, and external works.
3. Engineering Process
o Support land bid preparation by producing technical reports and constraints plans.
o Coordinate consultants to create S278 designs and manage technical approval submissions.
o Discharge NHBC engineering conditions for sites.
o Assist in compiling legal packages.
4. Adoptions
o Commission as-built surveys.
o Learn how to manage and reduce road bonds, focusing on financial impacts of legacy bonds.
o Oversee progress on S278, S38, and S104 maintenance agreements.
5. Health & Safety
o Develop pre-construction information and CDM/EMS documentation.
o Complete CDM and general safety training.
o Apply for F10s for new sites and understand key roles and responsibilities.
o Participate in site inductions to understand site operations.
Additional areas of development include utilities, customer service, sales, administration, and project management systems.
Essential Criteria:
* A degree in architecture, engineering, or a construction-related discipline.
* A full driving license and access to a car.
* Passion for working in the construction industry.
* Willingness to travel to sites within your division.
