As our Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees (700). You will collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to manage payroll operations effectively while adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements. You will handle payroll queries from employees, providing clear and accurate information, ensuring all statutory and voluntary deductions (taxes, pensions, etc.) are correctly applied You will assist with the calculation and management of benefits, bonuses, commission and overtime You will administer company pension schemes, including auto-enrolment and employee contributions, ensuring pension deductions are in line with legal requirements and company policies You will ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NIC, tax codes, statutory sick pay (SSP), statutory maternity/paternity pay (SMP/SPP), and auto-enrolment pension schemes You will prepare payroll reports for internal departments (HR, Finance, etc.) and external bodies (HMRC) You will manage year-end reporting, including P60, P11D, and other statutory documents You will manage inquiries and audits from HMRC or other authorities, as required, ensuring timely submission of payroll-related returns to HMRC, including RTI (Real-Time Information) submissions What we are looking for? Proven experience in payroll processing with a strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements Previous experience using payroll software (e.g., Sage, HiBob, Pento, ADP, Xero) and MS Office applications (Excel, Word) Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Certification in payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional or equivalent) would be desirable.
