Background: Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the team fields multiple entries in INDYCAR, INDY NXT, IMSA and Formula E. The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team.
Job description: We have an opportunity for a Lead Engineer - Aero Development Team to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you will lead a group of Aerodynamics engineers to deliver aerodynamic performance to the race car by analysing computational and wind tunnel data, and innovation throughout the design and development process. Principal Accountabilities:
1. Management and responsibility of the Aero Development Team.
2. Lead the delivery of aerodynamic performance to the race car, by analysing CFD and wind tunnel data as well as innovating throughout the design and development process.
3. Have a strong understanding of the aerodynamic structures and behaviors around the race car.
4. Work as part of management groups to construct a mutually agreed and communicated aerodynamic development plan.
5. Evaluate, investigate and implement new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis, and reporting.
6. Lead collaborative discussions and efforts to improve whole-car performance, evaluating ideas, taking and giving feedback to others.
7. Communicate key findings, opportunities and threats to Aerodynamics department stakeholders.
8. Occasional travel may be required as part of this role.
Requirements:
1. Multiple years' relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
2. Deep understanding of the Formula One Technical Regulations.
3. Experience in leading, managing and directly contributing to aerodynamic development.
4. Experience in planning, organizing, and managing aerodynamic development projects against pre-agreed targets.
5. Excellent knowledge of CFD methods and analysis of CFD data.
6. Well versed with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
7. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
8. Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
9. Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
10. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
11. Clear and concise communication.
12. Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
13. Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
