Job Title
A Principal Electrical Design Engineer is required to lead the design and coordination of engineering projects, with a strong focus on low energy design.
As part of our expanding international M&E consultancy, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects and develop your skills in electrical installations, systems, equipment, and facilities for various building types.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years' industry experience, a proven track record in project management, and excellent client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage large projects, undertaking a client-facing role in the development, design, and coordination of engineering project services for Electrical installations, systems, equipment, and facilities (multiple building types)
* Develop and specify applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
* Conduct surveys, tests, and dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
* Evaluate manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing to ensure compliance with functional specifications and customer requirements
* Making day-to-day decisions on project progress and providing direct liaison with clients
* Representing the company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams, and contractors
* Ensuring engineering calculations and drawings meet robust industry and legal standards
* Liaising with the team on the coordination of engineering services
* Providing a holistic view in selecting and applying engineering concepts and solutions
Requirements:
* BSc/BEng or degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent experience
* MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus relevant experience or equivalent
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status
* Significant experience in specification design for multiple building types
* Solid knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
* Familiarity with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel
* Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software
* Understanding of BS standards/UK Regulations/Codes
* Capacity to prioritize own workload
* Proven ability to work under deadlines
* Managerial and presentation skills
* Supporting the delivery of projects in accordance with the RED Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC, and Technical Review perspective
* Background in consulting or construction preferred
* Familiarity with international working and global business operations
* Acting in an ethical manner and adhering to the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group
