We are seeking an Senior Accounts & Audit Manager to join our team based in Halifax. The role will ensure that all accounts and audit work is carried out efficiently and within the necessary deadlines. You will manage, develop & appraise the staff with the Accounts & Audit department as well as assisting in the expansion of the firm’s client base.
Brief Job Description
* To take responsibility for the running and development of the audit department, at all times ensuring adherence to the highest professional standards, including maintenance of audit programmes, audit procedures and the audit library.
* Where appropriate, conduct prospective client interviews and present the firm in a manner that increases the likelihood of appointment.
* To be responsible for the efficient completion of all audit department work including fee negotiations, billing, client interviews, audits, accounts preparation, bookkeeping, forecasting, management accounts, VAT, corporation tax, company law, and other pertinent matters for the audit department.
* To liaise with clients and nurture client relationships as necessary to obtain information needed for completeness of work and for the maintenance of good relationships between them and the firm.
* To take responsibility for training and supervision of audit staff.
* To be diligently accountable for time spent using the firm’s time recording system.
* Undertake such other tasks as are necessary and/or appropriate to fulfil the objectives listed above.
* To assist with administration as and when required, both for the audit department and generally for the firm, particularly in collecting audit department debts in collaboration with the accounts supervisor.
* To participate in the general running and decision-making processes of the firm via attendance at management meetings and other available methods.
* Annually confirm professional integrity and independence and read and understand the firm’s Investment Business Compliance Manual, Audit Regulations Office Procedures Manual, Health & Safety Statement, and other applicable documents to comply with the firm’s standard procedures.

The Ideal Senior Accounts and Audit Manager will be able to:
* Take responsibility for completion and billing of accounts and audit work by the appropriate team members, within the required deadlines and time budgets.
* Control workflow to ensure clients are contacted in good time to bring their books in as necessary to minimize idle time.
* Meet with potential new clients where appropriate to assist the Firm in growing its client base.
* Be proactive in developing the Charity sector through relevant marketing activity.
* Oversee the sales of Sage and other software and provide client support where necessary to install and run such systems.
* Have at least 2 years of post-qualification experience (ACCA OR ACA) & ideally have Charity Sector experience.
