To provide comprehensive support to the site management team by ensuring that effective management systems are in place, which deliver the Company Occupational Health and Safety and Environment Policy and meet legal requirements.
Key Accountabilities and Measures
1. Plan and support the roll out of the National Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategy, ensuring that HSE best practice standards are developed and maintained on site that are compliant with statutory and company policy.
2. Ensure HSE spend locally is within budget.
3. Provide accurate, timely, legally correct assistance and sensible business-led advice to line managers on site in all aspects of Health, Safety and the Environment.
4. Foster a positive HSE culture by ensuring accountability for HSE is accepted by managers and employees, acting as a coach and facilitator for line managers and providing appropriate tools and techniques.
5. Identify HSE learning needs for the site (bakery and depot) and provide cost-effective solutions to meet these needs through liaison with the TLandD Manager.
6. Identify areas for improvement as a result of risk assessments, audits, accidents, and incidents, ensuring these are followed to completion to promote continuous improvement and learning.
7. Understand, monitor, and maintain the site’s (bakery and depot) performance against the requirements of the Warburton’s HSE management system. Recommend improvements to the HSE management system and participate in company-wide improvement projects where required.
8. Lead, in conjunction with line management, initiatives designed to improve commitment at all levels to continuously enhance standards of HSE to benefit site performance.
Minimum Requirements
1. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role, ideally in an FMCG organisation.
2. General knowledge of all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment with a good level of expertise in handling audits from internal and external parties.
3. Good knowledge of Health Safety and Environment legislation.
4. NEBOSH diploma or equivalent (or working towards).
5. Chartered Membership (or working towards) of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
6. IEMA Environmental Foundation certificate, for permitted sites IEMA Associate Certificate.
7. Knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS18001 management systems.
8. Excellent communication skills: articulate, influential, persuasive, and impactful verbal and written skills.
9. Excellent relationship builder—establishing credibility and building rapport with both internal and external contacts at all levels.
10. Problem solver: able to find a safe and compliant resolution to issues and promote safety as an enabler, not a blocker.
11. Decisive: able to make decisions in a timely manner and be accountable.
