About the role
We are seeking a strategic Head of HR to join our HRBP team, supporting BEAMS. As a key member of the HR Leadership Team, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of UCL’s HR Strategy within BEAMS. You will be working closely with the Vice-Provost(s), Deans, and Directors of Operations to drive initiatives around talent attraction, retention, engagement, and development in the faculties.
Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
1. Providing input to shape the development of UCL's HR strategy and rolling this out across BEAMS, ensuring alignment with UCL’s strategic goals
2. Leading the implementation of local people strategies to enhance the recruitment, retention, and development of staff
3. Managing complex HR scenarios and providing expert guidance
4. Analysing HR data to offer actionable insights to leadership
5. Leading succession planning and fostering a diverse talent pipeline
6. Collaborating on senior recruitment and diversity initiatives
7. Ensuring the delivery of performance management and development cycles in line with UCL’s values.

Please note, we operate a hybrid working model and this role will be based onsite at our London Kings Cross/St Pancras offices for 2/3-days a week (Monday plus others).
The salary for this role is circa £85, per annum. Salary on appointment is subject to experience.

About you
As an experienced HR leader with a background in strategic HR management in large, complex organisations you have a proven ability to partner with senior leadership, (including Deans and Directors), to shape and execute people strategies that align with organisational goals and drive success.
You should have expertise in managing HR issues and leading positive change outcomes within a dynamic academic environment. A key part of this role is fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity, and we’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to creating a workplace where all staff can thrive and has development and implemented EDI strategies.
In addition, you will have experience in managing a team of HR professionals, providing coaching and development to ensure high performance. Your excellent communication and influencing skills will enable you to build trusted and sustained relationships to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders across the university.
You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
8. Experience working in the Higher Education sector and collaborating with senior academic stakeholders within faculties.
9. Experience supporting the development and implementation of workforce planning, succession planning, and talent management strategies, with a proven track record of delivering impact.
10. Experience successfully enhancing employee engagement and retention, with measurable results to showcase your effectiveness in these areas.
Although not essential, any experience working within the healthcare/NHS or government sectors would be beneficial.
