A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
A new position is now available at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust to join our team as a Trauma Rehabilitation Co-ordinator. This role provides the successful candidate with the chance to work closely with medical, nursing, and therapy colleagues to support the coordination of effective care pathways for Major Trauma patients within one of the busiest trauma units in the region.
We are seeking an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, or Registered Nurse to join the team on a fixed-term basis until January 2026.
This is a part-time role (0.4 WTE), working 2 or 3 days per week. Ideally, one of the working days would be a Friday, though there is some flexibility for the right candidate.
Weekend working on a Saturday is required on a rota basis, with a maximum of one Saturday in four.
You will be working closely with colleagues to identify Major Trauma patients and be responsible for providing advice and support on their management and ongoing care, regardless of which speciality they are under.
Where patients have complex needs you will support the team to coordinate their discharge, including ongoing care or facilitating transfer to an appropriate rehabilitation facility.
You will also be supporting individuals and their relatives as they progress towards discharge from Watford General Hospital. You will act as a single point of contact for liaison with Major Trauma Centres and other Trauma Units and support repatriations, gaining thorough handover of patient status.
You will need to be confident and proactive in your communication skills and caseload management. You will actively participate in Trauma Network meetings, participate in reviews and trust committees, lead local audit and develop and review procedures, guidelines and protocols.
You will be responsible for ensuring requirements as set out by TARN (Trauma and Rehabilitation Network) are being met through regular training and updates of the therapy and nursing team. The successful candidate will also be supported by receiving regular supervision and there are also opportunities for course funding.
The role will also enable you to consolidate your clinical knowledge and develop skills as a Band 7 in project management, audit and service development.
