About this opportunity We're part of the Insurance, Pensions & Investments division and have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking insurance professional to join the General Insurance (GI) Underwriting Team, as a Reinsurance & Exposure Analyst within the Reinsurance team. We’re a dynamic team with responsibility for developing the GI reinsurance strategy, risk appetite, design, and placement of the GI Reinsurance protections; whilst building excellent relationships with our Reinsurer Partners and Brokers. We work collaboratively with the wider Underwriting team to help shape the profile of the business that we underwrite, monitor geographical accumulations, analyse the impact of business that we have accepted, to manage our exposure to extreme events costs and to identify areas to expand the underwriting footprint. Working in the GI Reinsurance team provides a fantastic opportunity, to develop your understanding of how the business operates, its key risks and how reinsurance can minimise these risks. As an analyst you’ll produce and analyse highly specialised and strategically sensitive information to support the GI Underwriting and Reinsurance strategies. The role requires a self-starter accustomed to managing priorities, a clear thinker who can work independently and to tight deadlines with strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills. You'll be building networks across the General Insurance team in addition to the wider Insurance, Pensions & Investments; providing an excellent opportunity for personal development, career progression. There will also be an opportunity to gain exposure within the reinsurance community. Your role and responsibilities will include Manage the Flood Re scheme, validate submissions, identify, and drive process improvements. Support the development, delivery and management of our reinsurance protection, large loss reporting and recoveries processes. Engage with the business and reinsurance brokers, to co-ordinate the production of insightful analysis, underwriting exhibits, ad-hoc and regular catastrophe modelling. Building and maintaining excellent relationships with internal stakeholders, our reinsurance brokers. Support LBG site visits from our panel of highly rated Reinsurer Partners and Brokers. Drive continuous improvement and simplification of reinsurance processes. Forecasting, monitoring and reporting of credit risk exposure. Produce key reports and insights on LBG GI exposure, analysing large sets of data ensuring these are understood and validated. Develop and maintain an in-depth level of technical knowledge of LBG GI products Extract and manipulate data using SAS and assist in maintaining and monitoring departmental databases. Support the development of our risk appetite and exposure management processes, to enhance and improve efficiencies, and mitigate risks Why Lloyds Banking Group? What we need from you: Finance or insurance professional with a proven track record gained in a range of roles. Commercial awareness - Experience and understanding of the UK home insurance market, the reinsurance market and industry environment. Strong analytical, data extraction, numeracy and proactive problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrate statistical techniques, ability and use of analytical statistical software such as SAS/SQL or R. Experience using QGIS or Power BI / Tableau preferred Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to communicate, collaborate and influence effectively at senior levels and with a wide range of teams internally, and within the reinsurance community. Good organisational and prioritisation skills to meet business timescales; and the ability to work successfully without constant supervision and management oversight.
