SEO Specialist - Academic Sector Project (Contract)
Rate: £21-22 per hour
Duration: 3 days per week, 10 weeks
Location: Remote/Hybrid options available
We're seeking a results-driven SEO Specialist to support an academic client in enhancing their digital presence. The role is focused on auditing, strategizing, and implementing key SEO initiatives to optimize website performance, boost organic visibility, and drive traffic.
Key Responsibilities
SEO Strategy Development
Design comprehensive strategies to improve organic search rankings.
Define and track KPIs for success.
Keyword Research
Identify impactful keywords using tools like Google Keyword Planner and SEMrush.
Develop lists and align content with targeted keywords.
On-Page Optimization
Optimize meta tags, headers, alt text, and multimedia content.
Ensure content alignment with SEO best practices.
Technical SEO
Conduct website audits to resolve technical issues (e.g., broken links, mobile optimization).
Collaborate with developers to ensure the site is crawlable and indexable.
Content Collaboration and Creation
Partner with marketing teams to create high-quality, SEO-friendly content.
Contribute to blog posts, guides, and program descriptions.
Link Building
Devise and execute outreach strategies for backlinks from relevant domains.
Monitor link performance and explore partnership opportunities.
Analytics and Reporting
Use tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console to track performance.
Prepare detailed monthly reports and actionable recommendations.
Competitor Analysis
Analyze competitors' SEO strategies to identify opportunities and threats.
Stay informed about higher education trends and SEO developments.
Team Collaboration and Training
Align efforts with admissions and marketing strategies.
Provide training on SEO best practices to stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Experience: Proven track record in conducting SEO audits and implementing impactful changes.
Technical Skills: Expertise with tools like SEMrush, Google Analytics, and familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress).
Soft Skills: Strong communication, ability to collaborate across departments, and a proactive attitude.
Technical Knowledge: HTML, CSS, and web performance optimization is advantageous.
Analytical Acumen: Comfortable interpreting data and providing actionable insights.
