Job summary An opportunity has arisen within the Choice Procurement Services Goods Reception team for a Stores Porter providing an efficient, accurate and reliable stores service to receive and deliver products in accordance with agreed procedures. The Stores Porter role provides invaluable procurement support to the hospital sites, the role involves having responsibility for providing a robust and effective inbound and outbound delivery service to the many wards and departments on the hospital sites. The roles will predominately be based at Sunderland Royal Hospital but on occasion may require cross site working to South Tyneside District Hospital. You will need to be able to work under your own initiative without close supervision, be literate and numerate with good customer service skills and organisational skills, along with good and clear verbal communication skills. A high level of attention to detail is vital to this role as you will be handling the receipt and delivery of large volumes of items delivered to the hospital daily. Main duties of the job To work under the guidance and direction of the Stores Supervisor and provide support to the day to day running of the overall stores service. The role is responsible for the receipt, recording and distribution of all goods purchased through the procurement department. Use of online systems to book goods in and assist service users with queries. The post holder will assist with the organising and delivery of goods to all areas of the hospital. This is a physical role with a large amount of manual handling. The stores service runs Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00.
