Job Title: Blackline Specialist – Project Lead

Position Overview:
A highly skilled and detail-oriented Blackline Specialist is needed to lead a key project focused on assessing and optimizing the utilisation of the Blackline platform within an organisation. This position involves evaluating the platform’s efficiency, effectiveness, and adoption, identifying areas for improvement, and delivering actionable recommendations. The successful candidate will collaborate with finance, IT, and key stakeholders to maximise the platform's potential and align it with the organisation’s financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management:
* Plan, coordinate, and execute a comprehensive assessment of Blackline utilisation within defined timelines and budgets.
* Define the scope, objectives, and deliverables for the project in alignment with organisational priorities.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to establish success metrics for the platform's performance.
2. Blackline Platform Analysis:
* Conduct a thorough review of current Blackline usage across all departments and business units.
* Evaluate how Blackline supports key financial processes, such as reconciliation, journal entries, and reporting.
* Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or underutilised features within the platform.
* Develop strategies for integrating Blackline with SAP/S/4HANA systems.
3. SAP Integration with Blackline:
* Apply expertise in integrating Blackline with SAP/S/4HANA to assess and enhance current practices.
* Define integration requirements and address challenges effectively.
* Support the implementation of Blackline within SAP ERP environments.
4. Stakeholder Engagement:
* Work closely with finance, accounting, and IT teams to understand workflows, pain points, and system requirements.
* Communicate findings and proposed solutions clearly, ensuring alignment with all stakeholders.
5. Recommendations and Roadmap Development:
* Provide actionable insights and a roadmap to improve the adoption and effectiveness of Blackline.
* Identify training needs and recommend tailored programs to enhance user capabilities.
* Suggest process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices.
6. Reporting and Documentation:
* Prepare and present detailed reports on the platform’s performance, improvement recommendations, and implementation strategies.
* Document current workflows and propose future workflows, highlighting changes and benefits.
7. Implementation Support:
* Assist in implementing process changes and configuring Blackline to meet organisational needs.
* Monitor and measure the effectiveness of improvements after implementation.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience:
* 4+ years of hands-on experience with the Blackline platform, including configuration and optimisation.
* Proven success in conducting platform utilisation assessments or optimisation projects.
* Strong understanding of accounting and financial processes, including reconciliations, financial close, and reporting.
Skills:
* Expertise in Blackline modules such as Account Reconciliations, Task Management, Journal Entries, and Matching.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage technical and non-technical teams.
* Project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of data analysis tools and financial system integrations is an advantage.
