Job description "Hi, my name is Paul, and I am 44 years old. I am a thoughtful, great listener, with my biggest skill of having a great memory. I love to communicate and learn new things about the people I speak too. I will later use my memory to talk more on the things I have learned to make that person feel special. I am an advocate for others who have disabilities, and I have had a long-standing employment which is important to me. My job allows me to learn new skills and showcase my existing skills, I look forward to going to work every week. I am a very family-oriented gentleman and my family have always provided a large percentage of natural support to me daily. My family are very important to me, and I enjoy speaking about them. I live with cerebral palsy and have restricted use of my left arm and hand. I can weight bear for short periods of time; however, I need support with all aspects of life from my support team. This includes managing my money whilst out, making sure I have my lunch with me and if I am working, assisting me to write notes and messages." Scheduled Working Days each week: Tuesday & Thursday Tuesday: 09:30 – 13:30 Thursday: 07:30 – 17:30 14-hour TEMP Contract There will be the opportunity to do overtime during team holiday times. Although this is a temporary contract, for the correct candidate we would look to secure a long-term contract after probation within our organisation. Main Tasks To provide person centred care and support to the people Support for Ordinary Living work for in line with the mission, vision, and values of the organisation the support worker role will: Support an individual to live in their own home/ family home and help the individual live the lifestyle they choose. Assist with personal care for example bathing where applicable. Encourage and support people to make life choices. Support individual to safeguard their property/ health & wellbeing/ finances and take appropriate action, when necessary, call NHS 24 or Doctor in case of emergency. Support people to become a valued member of their local community and support and encourage them to maintain and develop relationships with their friends, their family, and their neighbours. Encourage and support people to get involved in social activities. Assist people with domestic tasks such as housework, shopping cooking and cleaning. Treat people with dignity and respect at all times and recognise their rights to make their own choices. Support the individual to meet their outcomes in line with their Outcome based support plan and plan for the future. To work as part as a Self-Directed team, working in a consistent and flexible manner to support the individual to meet the outcomes outlined in the outcome-based support plan. Adhere to SOL’s policies and procedures to attend all planned meetings / training as requested. Be an ambassador to SOL, safeguarding the positive image and reputation of the organisation.
