An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Business Transformation Department for a resilient and resourceful ICT Senior GIS Officer to deliver GIS and Street Naming and Numbering Services at both Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Councils.
The ICT Senior GIS Officer will maintain and enhance the Corporate Local Land and Property Gazetteer, provide Graphical Information support in response to customer requests and maximise the use and integration of corporate Spatial data through the promotion of the councils GIS and mapping systems. In addition, the post will be responsible for managing the daily work programme for the GIS team and work with other members of the ICT team to implement, support and develop GIS applications and information together with managing street naming and numbering data in line with council policies.
Key Requirements -
* Development of a strategic framework for the management of the Council’s geospatial datasets and put in place a strong governance regime, together with appropriate metadata standards, in order to ensure the integrity and accuracy of these datasets.
* Undertake the day to day project management of the implementation activities associated with the Council’s GIS Strategy, ensuring it is kept up to date by regularly reviewing developments and progress with the use of GIS throughout the Council.
* Ensure the Local Land and Property Gazetteer is integrated into core corporate systems to establish a single set of address data.
* To provide GIS support in maintaining and expanding the Corporate GIS and to provide support and guidance to all corporate GIS users at multiple locations.
* To act as the corporate spatial system administrator for the UNI-form system and to co-ordinate system administrators in other departments
Skills & experience
Essential
* Must be prepared to maintain specialist GIS knowledge through training as required.
* Experience of providing support to corporate GIS users.
* Extensive knowledge of GIS based technologies.
* Defining and managing data sets incorporating a knowledge of the principals of Metadata and its application in GIS
* Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems eg: Uniform, ARCGIS etc
* Working knowledge of BS7666 and Street Naming & Numbering procedures.
* Demonstrable experience in contributing to and maintaining a high quality GIS service.
* Evidence of success in building and developing partnerships and working effectively with a wide range of customers.
* Evidence of managing team workloads and outputs to achieve agreed measures.
* Proven ability to plan, organise and manage own priorities, projects and workload
Desirable
* Awareness of ICT, service transformation and technical change issues affecting the GIS service.
