Systems Engineer
Location: Redhill
Type: Permanent role
Our client provides I.T solutions and satellite communication services to customers globally. They are searching for an experienced individual to assist in the system engineering processes within the team.
The team is responsible for a variety of services, including:
1. Bespoke hardware and software developments for customers.
2. Designing on-board vessel and land networks for fleets.
3. System design and integration to suit clients - testing, updating, and adding into Product Portfolio.
4. Design and management of infrastructure and customer networks.
Experience with site traffic improvement, virtualisation, High Availability, traffic prioritisation, VSAT, Starlink, OneWeb, LTE & PoP infrastructure are beneficial for this role.
Key Responsibilities of a System Engineer:
1. Act as in-house Product expert on selected systems and applications, keeping abreast of new developments in the IT & Communications industry.
2. Provide accurate and timely technical information or analyses on a variety of engineering investigations.
3. Support the design, requirement capture, and development.
4. Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation relating to new solutions/developments, ensuring that any new developments are rolled out effectively across the organization.
5. Support the Product Management team and Account Managers in dealings with customers on engineering issues, attend meetings, and conduct demonstrations in support of Sales.
6. Own, investigate, and resolve escalated engineering service issues.
7. Participate in a DVB Support Engineer shift rota if required.
8. Lead by example to develop and maintain personal technical expertise in company bespoke products and security best practices.
The successful System Engineer would have:
1. Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT/Programming/Engineering related area AND/OR at least 3 years equivalent experience.
2. A professional and flexible approach with a proactive 'can do' attitude.
3. Ability to diagnose complex faults, document, communicate, and follow up corrective actions.
4. Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, Firewalling, including Layer 7 firewalls.
5. Experience with Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL).
