Job Summary
Registered Nurse - Gastroenterology (fixed term post)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse covering maternity leave to join our dynamic and committed team on Ward 16 at the Princess of Wales Hospital. The team comprises of consultants, advanced nurse practitioners, and the nursing team who all work together to provide excellent care for this specialty of patients.
We are looking for staff who have an interest in supporting and treating patients with chronic and acute Gastroenterology medical conditions. We are looking for motivated, caring individuals who strive to achieve high standards of care for all patients with a passion for the specialty. We will be committed to your wellbeing and development and will provide all the education and training you will need.
The Post Holder Will:
1. Be responsible for the management of a group of patients, and occasionally take charge of the ward/department and its resources for the duration of their duty.
2. Be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care.
3. Be responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures are adhered to.
4. Be responsible for the support and supervision of junior staff.
Main Duties of the Job:
The post holder will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work as a team or on their own initiative. Staff will be required to be well organized and have good time management skills.
There will be opportunities for internal development as the University Health Board has a dedicated training and development department offering a wide range of in-house courses. We also have close links with the University of Glamorgan to support your ongoing professional development which you will be required to demonstrate as part of re-validation. Informal visits are encouraged.
This post is fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
