This is an exciting opportunity to join the Patient Safety and Improvement Team as a Patient Safety Incident Investigator. This post will work closely with the Patient Safety and Improvement Manager, supporting Business Units in applying PSIRF principles to key areas of focus, in line with our Patient Safety Incident Response Plan.
Main duties of the job
Leading Patient Safety Incident Investigations (PSII's) with a systems based approach in line with the Northumbria PSIRF principles and supporting other lead investigators. Being able to draw on data from a variety of sources, carry out real time observations and create system level improvement recommendations for relevant services, in line with the organisations Patient Safety Incident Response Plan. Supporting our Patient Safety Improvement Facilitators in delivering patient safety improvement projects and delivering training around PSIRF across the organisation.
Job responsibilities
Sitting in the corporate Business Unit, this post will provide expertise in a Human Factors investigation approach, have oversight of the progress of PSII's and support the continued implementation of all Alternative Learning Responses across the organisation.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Masters level or equivalent acquired through training and experience.
* Experience in coordination and completion of high level patient safety incident investigations.
* Experience of delivering improvement projects and change.
* Highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience.
* Highly developed knowledge of patient safety and investigation acquired through a combination of in-depth experience and post graduate study.
* Knowledge of change management strategies and experience of implementing change.
* Knowledge of current NHS agenda and impact on services.
* Knowledge of trust-wide hospitals, wards, departments, services, policies and procedures.
Experience
* Experience of leading, coordinating and organising teams.
* Experience of project management.
* Experience and achievement in meeting targets.
* Experience of working in different healthcare/private sectors such as primary care.
* Knowledge of research and development.
