Job Title: Care Home Manager (Deputy) Location: Standlake, Oxfordshire Salary: £44,184–£46,924 Job type: Full-time, Permanent. Hours: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year. At the Mulberry Bush, we have 5 houses on-site that provide residential care and education for up to 30 children. Working alongside the House Manager, you’ll ensure our supportive environment continues nurturing healthy lives and relationships for the children you will be looking after. Although this is not a registered manager role, we are seeking someone with experience of team leadership in children’s residential care. We'll look to you to: Support the House Manager to ensure a high and consistent standard of care and therapeutic treatment of up to six children, in one house. Support the House Manager to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day routines. Coordinate and risk assess on and off-site children’s activities with a focus on developing the children’s life and educational skills. Work with the House Manager and the Group Living team to effectively manage the House Team, overseeing daily operations. Provide individual supervision to Therapeutic Childcare Practitioners (TCPs), and support their professional development. Ensure the house is appropriately staffed, taking into consideration holidays and the sleep-in rota. Feedback to the House Manager on any issues within the team. Report serious incidents to the Head of Group Living and Deputy Head of Group Living. Ensure all records and reports are maintained within specified timeframes to a high standard. Be an active, engaging representative of the house to the wider community. Deputise for the House Manager as required. Participate in the on-call rota duties and the sleep-in rota. Shift Patterns : Shift patterns are set a minimum of a month in advance. An average of 40 hours per week over 5 days, Monday – Sunday. Hours will vary over the working day from 8 am – 10 pm. 1-2 sleep-ins per week, which may include weekends. Sleep-ins take place from 10 pm – 8 am. Achieve a fully accredited and funded Foundation Degree (FdA) in Therapeutic Work with Children and Young People. About you: Not only are you passionate about creating warm and welcoming environments, you’ll also have 2 years of experience in a senior role within a childcare setting and have worked directly with children with challenging behaviours. You’ll also need: Experience in containing yourself and others in stressful situations. A background in care and treatment planning. Excellent interpersonal, communication and report-writing skills. The ability to lead and manage a team and be capable of adapting to the needs of the children or organisation. An understanding of, and commitment to, safeguarding principles. Knowledge of therapeutic work theory, including an understanding of the roots of challenging behaviours. A Level 3 Diploma in Social Care or equivalent. Foundation degree in therapeutic work with children and young people (desirable). A valid and full UK driving licence (desirable). Experience gained in a therapeutic setting (desirable). Previous use of a crisis intervention system such as Team Teach (desirable). Capable of managing staff from a range of backgrounds to develop resilience and reach their potential. A sense of humour, warmth and empathy. Worked with education, health and care plan processes.
