We have an exciting opportunity for a new position of Buying Assistant Apprentice within our procurement process. Responsible for assisting the Buyer with buying of all raw materials, peripherals and hiring of plant for site for our construction contracts. To ensure our supply chain is current and up to date with compliant documentation.

What you’ll do at work
* Overall responsibility to assist the Buyer in the procurement of all materials and peripherals for Adstone projects within the pricing constraints of the project estimate and in-house for the factory or office excluding IT hardware
* Job role as defined by scope of IMS Purchasing Procedure and workload prioritised by Buyer
* Using the key suppliers for the procurement of the steel, bolts and secondary steelwork fixings. Assist in project quotations and ensuring prices are competitive, accurate and work within the pricing constraints and time scales of the project estimate
* Assist in upkeep of the Supplier supply chain matrix that the data held on file is correct, and that existing suppliers have completed the IMS requirements to supply us, and any new supplier is screened in accordance to the protocols outlined. Data analysis is kept up to date on suppliers for recording and evidence purposes for auditing. Including Re validation of suppliers
* Purchasing utilising Strumis and Delivery note generation within timely manner to ensure production flow to factory for work generation. Uploading and checking of invoicing against orders on Strumis and workflow/upload of of invoicing to project server
* Undertake Ordering steel with guidance from Buyer ensuring optimum price and wastage etc.
* Ordering any consumables required, checking periodically with other prices within the marketplace. Ordering bolts/HD Bolts/ordering thermal packs/crane/mewps
* Issuing purchase orders to suppliers in electronic form, checking and recording of stock items and checking deliveries against the Strumis data and stored on project server. All Procurement to follow IMS procedure for Buying
* Issuing both saw and fabrication work instructions and cutting lists
* Assist in Test Cert Collation and compliance check and storing onto project server for IMS system and control of project data for CDM file to be collated
* Assist with Factory queries on purchasing and Strumis where applicable
* Undertake 6-month stock take and document stock take on excel and Strumis
* Booking daily transport with external carriers
* Organising MEWPS and cranes for site and ensuring documentation is in order, for fitness to work, thorough examinations
* Liaising with Site personnel for any bolt and consumable requirements and ensuring they get to site in the required time
* Generally, carry out any duties within reason that are required within the day i.e. collecting parts for machines and local tool stockists if required
* Accountable for performing duties satisfactorily within the scope of job role responsibilities and authorities
* Responsible for own Health & Safety as well as that of others and must immediately report any Health & Safety to SHEQ Manager
* Implementation and compliance to of Company policies, quality, safety, environmental systems and any other duties deemed necessary

* Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.

Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Your training plan
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN).
You will receive a training plan that is specific to your qualification, with sessions that are delivered through a combination of face-to-face and remote.
Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed.
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Business Administration Level 3 qualification.
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.
