Join a high-impact project at one of the UK’s leading refineries – where your instrumentation expertise will shape the future of energy Job Title: Instrument Engineer Location: Between Hull and Grimsby Project: Humber Refinery Project Contract: 12-Month Contract Rate: Hourly – Dependent on Experience (DOE) Start Date: As soon as available Job Purpose: To provide expert instrumentation engineering support across operational activities and capital projects. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards, oversee design and documentation processes, and support project execution from concept through to construction. Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialist instrumentation engineering input across all phases—design, estimating, and construction. Support design and draughting teams to produce accurate, standards-compliant drawings and specifications. Take ownership of design packages, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables. Liaise effectively with contractors, vendors, internal departments, and project teams. Carry out site inspections, surveys, and investigations to ensure safe and practical engineering solutions. Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal standards and engineering practices. Prepare specifications, technical calculations, cost estimates, and safety documentation. Ensure all engineering work adheres to relevant codes and standards, including IEC61511 and company procedures. Manage and document design changes in line with the Management of Change (MoC) process. Working Hours: Standard Hours: 08:00 – 16:30 Flexible Working Options Available (for Agency Workers): 9/80 Schedule: Week 1: 07:30 – 17:00 Mon–Thu, 08:00 – 16:30 Fri Week 2: 07:30 – 17:00 Mon–Thu, Off Fri 19/30 Schedule: Extra 30 minutes worked per day (before or after standard hours). This accrues one full day off every two weeks without impacting pay.
