Description Act as the Hapag-Lloyd Area Point of Entry (POE) for Claims related matters. Receive notice of claim from claimants (customers) and process in accordance with Corporate Insurance Risk Management (CIRM) procedures. Forward all claim notifications and documents to CIRM. Collect and preserve locally available evidence under guidance of CIRM. Appoint surveyors to attend cargo examinations on behalf of Hapag-Lloyd in accordance with CIRM guidelines. Receive and process invoices from surveyors. Retrieve relevant reefer container download data, as requested by CIRM. Respond to CIRM instructions, particularly in matters concerning the defence of or mitigation of a claim against Hapag-Lloyd. Initiate claims against 3rd parties found responsible for the damage to Hapag-Lloyd equipment and thereafter recover losses. Refute labour costs / Machinery costs once determined by departmental managers as not falling under Hapag Lloyd liability. Process Maintenance & Repair estimates and supervise repairs. Establish the most appropriate action concerning containers deemed to be beyond economic repair. Exercise stringent cost control for all M&R categories. Ensure all Hapag-Lloyd M&R standards are enforced and upheld in subcontractor facilities. Monitor quality of depot’s performance on a daily basis and take the appropriate remedial action where necessary. Monitor overdue containers in depots and MARS (system). Liaise closely with the Equipment Department to determine container requirements and prioritize repairs accordingly. Handle M&R estimates and supervision of repairs Inspect damaged and leased containers in depot as required Identify warranty cases Assess value of depreciated containers Determine 3rd party responsibility for damage and contaminations Ensure all HL M&R standards are enforced and upheld in all subcontractor facilities Monitor quality of depot's performance daily and take appropriate action where necessary Supervise method of repairs; maintaining quality and accuracy, pre-inspection and post repairs Monitor over dues in Depots and MARS system Provide lashing material & GENSET tracking and maintenance Ensure all M&R costs are contained and transferred by month end Liaise closely with the Equipment Department to determine equipment requirements and to prioritise repairs Responsibilities Knowledge / Experience Good knowledge of HL’s blueprint, products, equipment and processes. Basic knowledge of finance and accounting. Technical knowledge of containers Knowledge of related regulations Become familiar with the terms and conditions of the Carrier’s Bill of Lading. Become familiar with the Company’s Corporate Insurance Risk Management manual, policy and processes. Qualifications IT Skills Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook, Word and Excel). Good knowledge of SAP (FI, FSCM), OCR, HIP and FIS. Comprehensive knowledge of user application systems (FIS, MS Office, SAP, MARS) Basic knowledge of E-Commerce solutions. ‘ Soft’ Skills Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
