About the role as a Cover Supervisor:
Academics is partnering with a reputable secondary school in Horsham to find a dedicated and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is keen to gain experience in education. As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain engaged and on task while maintaining a positive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities for a Cover Supervisor:
1. Supervise classes across various subjects in the absence of the regular teacher.
2. Ensure students remain focused and productive, following the lesson plans provided.
3. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment.
4. Provide additional support to students who may need assistance with their work.
5. Monitor student progress and report any issues to the relevant teaching staff.
6. Help with administrative tasks, including recording attendance and completing behavior reports.
7. Supervise students during break times and school events.
8. Work closely with teachers and staff to ensure smooth transitions between lessons and cover sessions.
Requirements:
1. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
2. Previous experience working with young people or in an educational setting is preferred but not essential.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. The ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a calm, focused environment.
5. A proactive, adaptable, and professional approach to the role.
6. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
